Hiqa Reports

The Rock Nursing Unit is an historic building originally built as a work house in the 1800s.

It was established as a community nursing home 1974. The centre can accommodate 22 residents requiring continuing care.

Accommodation is provided on the ground floor and comprises five single rooms, five three bedded rooms and one two bedded room.

Communal areas consist of a sitting room and dinning room and a conservatory to the front of the centre.

There are five assisted bathrooms and eight toilets available.

Other facilities included a nurse’s office, sluice rooms and a laundry.
The first floor is accessed by a lift and an oratory, a staff changing area, and a staff dinning room are located on this floor.

The Rock Nursing Unit is located in an old hospital and became a dedicated older person’s centre in 2004.

It is located on a hill overlooking Ballyshannon about a half mile from the town centre on the old Bundoran Road.
